$300 dinner
Had Alaskan King Crab for the first time today - had dinner at Turf City and got to choose live seafood from the stacks of tanks that they have. You just point to what u want and they'll fish them out of the tank for you. The crab was about 2kg and cost us more than a hundred dollars. But it was totally worth it, cos it tastes superb! Plus, the leg was so huge, it was thicker than my thumb. It's rather amazing how the shell's rather soft though - you have to cut it up with a pair of scissors to retrieve the meat. Also tried Geoduck for the first time, sashimi style, as well as boiling in soup. Sweet and chewy, plus the soya sauce that they provided complemented it well. Not cheap either, since one cost us about $60. Then we had very fresh and succulent prawns. All these for 3 adults and a child - Dan, Dan's mom, Jaymond and me. The crab alone was super filling - could hardly finish it although it was just a single crab. The bill came up to $308, which was rather scary.
Went to Giant for a little shopping after dinner - spent another $80 there buying some food and home stuff. Really, money can't buy us a lot nowadays. Simple household necessities can come up to $80. Yes, lamenting about money as you can see. But I have a right to that after my hubby has just churned out $300 for a meal, and after all the shopping I've done this month. Really must cut down on the expenses, especially since next month will be the last time I'll be receiving pay for the next 2 years. Here comes hell. |
