reminders

He reminded me of him... someone whom i haven't been in contact with for such a long time... the way he spoke, the way he looked, the way he behaved... so surreal... but it was nice... the memories of our friendship back to haunt me...

Anyways, went for another job interview this morning... HR Dept at Neptune Shipping Management... it's quite an interesting job and the job scope seems fine... the office is wonderful... but they haven't confirmed... then it was down to Kokanee again... was actually motivated to try it out at first, but when i got home and talked to Uncle at work, i realised how unreal it all sounded and the doubts that were already in my head multiplied... plus i don't think i can sell anything very well, in terms of face-to-face direct marketing... the Raffles one... i'm reluctant to let it go... and i'm also embarrassed to make her wait for my ans... so sorry, but i do need time to sort this out, esp since this is my first job, my first forray into the working world... but i love it at Raffles...so convenient and the people there seem fine too... but the pay... *shakes me head*

It's depressing when no one replies to your resumes... it's confusing and headachy when you dunno which one to take when more than one road opens up in front of you... i'm so stuck at the crossroads... which one shld i take? i've never been good at making choices... argh!

career in life

Went for 3 interviews today... one for Raffles, one for Kokanee Acquisitions(sales and marketing position) and one more was for a recruitment agency, which i actually applied to without knowing it was an agency, thinking it was a company... geez...

Anyways, the Raffles one was ok, except i would be doing accounts stuff there, which is something way out of my course of study... plus, i never even took accounts in sec sch... i never took accounting in my entire life! and to help out in accounting for such a huge co., i bet it's no easy feat... but the people there were nice and i really wanted to join thinking that it would be a great stepping stone to the hospitality biz which i so want to be in... however, i am still uncertain about this one...

Then there's the sales and marketing position... the company's in Chinatown - the home of cheap and good food... plus the office is really nice too... the have a lounge area where they show FRIENDS... haha... so cool, no? Anyways, it was a group interview kinda setting and i actually met a fellow NP grad there... a biz student... we just talked after the interview, which was really short and quite pointless, might i add... i was called back for a second interview scheduled for tmr, but i actually am not really looking forward to that cos i just found out that the company does direct marketing, like selling to pple face to face and stuff... not the project based type that i was looking for... but i guess i'll drop by for the interview anyways tmr...

And the third, the recruitment agency... well, they'll hook me up with a company and i have to pay them for their services... they've already gotten me an interview tmr... something to look forward to...

All this interviewing is tiring... and hard on my feet too... they're acheing... i'm in need of good shoes and a great foot massage... ahhhh.... perhaps the treatment of sleep might help for now... time for bed, cos i got to wake at 7am tmr... argh...

2 interviews coming up

Went over to watch Dan, Charles, AJ and Wei Xian play soccer yesterday... totally wasn't feeling well... think it's the flu... geez... feel so weak all over... anyways, watched them play in a street soccer court in batok... can't say they're very good but they've got their good plays sometimes...

After soccer, Dan and I went over to AJ's house to see his overweight but extremely cute and bo-bo hamster while he took a shower. AJ cut out a piece of pear and even skinned it for the little fella and gave it to me to feed it... at first look, the cage looked unoccupied... then AJ told me to knock on the door of the cage... and there it was, this fat and tubby little hamster came stumbling out and walking in rounds, trying to find the stairs to the 'bottom-flr'. As to why it's stumbling, it had it's eyes closed cos it just woke up, i think... so cute, watching it struggle to get down the stairs and open it's eyes... finally, it managed to come straight for the gate and nibble on the juicy pear in content...

Went to 115 for dinner after that... then met up with Wei Xian under his block for a couple of games at Westmall... played Air Hockey with Dan... and it's the first time tht I lost to him! by one point somemore... damn... think i was really sick... no other way of explaining tht loss... hehe... :X

It was getting late so we decided to call it a night...

Then woke up bright and early at 8am today, on a freaking Sat... went to meet Wei Xian and accompany him while he serviced his cute little 'lambomini'... haha... went for a bite while the car was under servicing and walked around the neighbourhood... picked up the car and then went to Suntec... where we had lunch and walked around in Carrefour... then it was back to Bukit Batok... and here we are, with me freshly awake frm a nap and Dan still dreaming in la-la land...

Really happy today cos i got 2 calls for interviews next week... the first of the lot i hope... and i hope this particular one goes well... shan't talk too much abt it in hopes of not jinxing it... watch this space for updates...

a huge amount of stuff

Met up with Jasmine on Wed to pass her her sleeping bag... it was nice meeting up with her again... still remember how we slaved over our Doc Pro Proj with SH and Han too... hehe... miss all those projects in sch actually... well, met her in Bugis and had lunch together... after tht i went over to Bukit Batok to find, who else, but Dan...

On Thur, went down to play bball at the court near Dan's place... his bro was there with his frens and we played a couple of games... there was this idiot of a bitch who was cycling on the court near us while we were playing during one of the matches and while i was going to retrieve the ball while in game, she nearly hit me with her bike... and guess what? She was the one mumbling a very rude and uncouth bad word while i was the one who was clearly wronged... geez... was so pissed... tht stupid idiotic ah lian... geez... Dan actually came up with the idea of the accidental "opps, i threw my ball too hard and i missed... opps, and i hit u right smack in ur big fat obnoxious face..." but i guess my conscience came back and i decided against it... I really miss the really nice pple in Thailand... S'poreans really do need a campaign to remind them to be courteous... geez...

After the bball workout which left my body and feet acheing (I was playing barefoot), we went over to Dan's mom's place to help her pack and move stuff cos they were moving... she has so many things! just take a look at the things she's donating to the Salvation Army and it'll make u wonder how she ever got to buy and store so many things... anyways, i went over and lots of stuff in her place ended up with a new owner - me... i got perfume, some face creams, lots of hair products, tons of lipstick and clothes... oh geez, we spent like 4 hours just packing her clothes! it was an entire evening and night of "What abt this? And this?" and trying on clothes for ourselves (Dan's sis was there too)... ended up going home at 1 plus cos we went out for a very late dinner after tht... was so damn tired after tht... haha... geez... i dun think i'd ever be able to accomodate so much clothes in my entire life...

day after the return

Went to town with Charles, Aiway and Dan today... before tht, i was "enjoying" life as a typical housewife - washing my clothes... my new clothes from Thailand tht is... hehe...

Anyways, we went to the food court at Scotts Road where we watched Dan eat... then went over to Heeren to have some bites at Marche... and then went to Taka cos we were thinking of going to the library... turned out the library was closed cos it's a public holiday...

We kinda saw plenty of celebs today... saw this guy on Eye For a Guy - Wolfgang... then saw Olinda Cho in the foodcourt at Scotts Road... not long after, while we were leaving, we walked past Daphane Khoo... then on our way to Heeren, saw Belinda (the MTV VJ turned Ch U variety show host) A star-studded day for us? haha...

Anyways, went over to Kino to walk around for a while... then just sat down at a bench to chat in Taka... saw Wei Xian and Dan's friend, Justin... then we went out and sat beside the fountain outside Taka to continue talking...

Well, it wsa a day full of chatting... and discussing about our next trip to Thailand... hehe... can't wait for that...

back from thailand!

Well, I'm back from Thailand and there's loads of photos below this entry... hehe...

Here's an account on our trip...

DAY 1 (17 May, Tue)

Met Aiway and Jonas at the airport... Aiway actually left her hp in the cab they came in, so tht wasn't a very good start to the trip for her... Anyways, we checked in and had some food while waiting to board the plane... Dan bought a bottle of Martell for his dad and we actually were thinking of getting some alcohol to drink during the trip (on a mission to make Aiway drunk... hehe) but decided against it in the end...

Boarded the plane and reached Thailand soon after... went straight to Baiyoke Sky Hotel, the highest in Thailand... standing at 84 storeys high! Actually we got an agent to book Baiyoke Suike for us, but it was under renovation and they shifted us over to Baiyoke Sky (or Baiyoke 2) at no extra charges! The room was huge and the hotel was wonderful... we were staying onthe 28th storey with a great view... each room has a walk in closet and a study/dressing table... a huge toilet with a shower cubicle and a bathtub... a mini bar and of course TV as well... also has a radio clock with alarm... how cool is tht? We get free breakfast buffet too (international food - Japan, Thai, European)

Anyways, we shopped around in Indra Square (across the street frm our hotel) after checking in. Had lunch there - I had papaya salad (Damn nice!) and some tung hoon with crab sitck... Dan, Aiway and Jonas had Tom Yum bee hoon... then Jonas got something like Or Luat which was really nice too... while Dan and i got desserts...

We had lunch and then moved on MBK (had Swensen's - great brownies! bought a bear soft toy... cos they didn't have meow meow anymore... sob sob! but the bear's just as cute... :)) then to Chinatown where we had the best crabs i've ever tasted! They were simply cooked - steamed in wine and some other ingredients and the crabs weren't big and meaty, but the meat was so sweet tht it just blew my mind away! and the sauce... wow! delish! after tht we also had some tau huay (but their's isn't in syrup but in ginger soup... which i didn't like at all)... they had these tiny you tiao to put in the tau huay to eat together too and those were nice... Dan had tang yuan and those were great! so smooth and the filling (black sesame paste) so silky and delicious!

Went back to the hotel after tht and Aiway and Jonas stayed in the hotel while Dan and i went down to the streets behind our hotel to walk around... tried this fried fish and it was so nice! Dan had this beef bee hoon and it was ok... though he loves it... hehe... also bought back a couple of foodstuff thinking tht Aiway and Jonas may still be awake, but ended up eating everything ourselves... we had papaya salad again too... yummy...

DAY 2 (18 May, Wed)

Went shopping around the area outside our hotel... walked around in a couple of malls in the area too... we had an hour's worth of Thai masage too... we actually had dinner at our hotel... buffet dinner (international food)... the Tom Yum Soup was delish and the sushi was not bad too... hmmm... i can't remember anything thing else tht's extremely nice cos there was so much to eat... but i dun think it was worth it though cos didn't really eat much in the end... haiz...

But the entertainment was quite cool... they had guys with guitars walking thru the restaurant and singing as they went along... then saw a clown, a balloon twisting guy and a guy who could do this weird thing with a glass ball... we were about to leave when this magician came over to our table... he did a couple of cool tricks using strings, making things appear frm no where and some card tricks as well... he asked us to participate in the tricks, which was a first for me... it was so fun...

Went down to shop at the night market behind our hotel once again before heading back for the night...

DAY 3 (19 May, Thur)

Went to MBK to shop and eat... we had Zen (Jap food) for lunch... the lunch sets were huge, with rice, meat, veg, fruits, green tea and miso soup... all of which were delicious... and each meal was on avrg abt 200bht, which is S$8! Mine was only 120bht actually... so it was only S$5! Shopped around and bought tonnes of stuff at MBK... also went over to have some bird's nest and shark's fin soup... both were great! We then went over to this night market in Suan Lum... huge place with great stuff, but freaking hot... i had green curry for dinner but it wasn't what i expected... it was sweet instead of salty... Dan had 2 plates of great BBQ chicken rice... oh, Aiway actually saw these basket bags and she was caught in between 2... but due to the lack of finances, she only got 1... Dan actually proposed to me tht we got the other one for her as a gift and we did... actually, he did cos he paid for it... and Aiway was so touched... but i guess it was nice to see her being so touched by a gift... and it was so sweet of Dan to have thought of and done that...

After all tht, we headed back to the hotel for a good night's rest...

DAY 4 (20 May, Fri)

We walked to Great World to shop but b4 we managed to get in, there was this guy at the small temple outside the mall who talked to us, telling us how this temple in Bangkok only opens one day in a month and tht we shld check it out... he then hired a Tuk-Tuk for us and got us on our first Tuk-Tuk ride... it was quite fun... but can't see much cos of the shade on the Tuk-Tuk... got to the temple... there were some animals there... as in dogs and cats... there was this huge statue of a buddha, a golden statue... and we prayed a little there... then we headed to the other statue and prayed there... we met a teacher there and he talked to us abt the place and told us of the Jade Buddha... we left after a while and stopped by at a jeweller's cos of the Tuk-Tuk ride and then we went back to the mall... nothing much in the mall but we had KFC for lunch... the drumlets were spicy but really nice! went on to Siam Square and then went to MBK once again after realising there's nothing much there...

At MBK, we watched Star Wars Ep 3 and b4 tht, we had Swensen's again... the movie was ok but not too fantastic... after tht we bought a couple of things at the supermarket b4 and the night market behind our hotel before going back to the hotel... went over to Aiway's room to watch Annaconda then Lord of the Rings on HBO... and tht's the end of tht day...

DAY 5 (21 May, Sat)

Went to Jatuchak but b4 tht, our Tuk-Tuk drivers brought us to a stop at Gem's store and that's where we bought a little something... Dan and I bought pearl earings for his sis and my mom respectively while Aiway bought a pair of diamond earings for her mom... the things there were on discount and were quite cheap... but we didn't have any guarantee as to whether they were genuine or not... i actually saw this ring, silver with an oval black stone on it and diamonds/crystals on each side of the gem... the lady told me it was a black star sapphire and tht it was a rare stone... i dun even know if all tht is true but it was a nice ring... really unique and it caught my eye... in the end, i decided to get it... but Dan wanted to charge it to his account, so now it is considered that he bought it for me... so wonderful of him, no?

After tht, we headed to Jatuchak and shopped around there for a while... we kind blew all of our money there... i bought tonnes of stuff and actually met Brendan there! oh, i also met Wendy, my pri sch friend in the hotel on one of the days... so shocked to see her... also saw Dan's bball pal Eric at the hotel while having breakfast... such a coincidence... oh, was supposed to meet Brendan at MBK on thurs but he didn't show up cos he was watching a show... haha... but anyway, was glad to meet him at Jatuchak...

We were so freaking hungry after shopping for a couple of hours tht we just picked a stall and ate there... they sold beef bee hoon and it was delicious!!! Dan and i shared 2 second bowl... the soup was so thick and nice! my gosh! and it was only 20B per bowl, which is only less than S$1!!! Definitely going back there to eat...

Shopped around a while more and as usual, tempted to buy back the dogs being sold at the pet stores... there was this pomerian puppy tht was just so adorable... so wanted to buy it home... there were tonnes of retriever puppies and saw one husky too... if only i can buy them home...

Went back to the hotel and Dan and i went out for another massage... returned to wait for the ring to be delivered to our hotel room and then went out to get dinner... went over to Pratunam to have dinner... Dan and Aiway had great beef bee hoon while Jonas and i shared a tom yum soup with rice... quite nice, but expensive... we then went over to the night market behind our hotel to get more food before heading back to to hotel.... Aiway and Jonas came over to our hotel to eat and watch soccer... we actually went down again to buy another papaya salad and 2 more corn on the cobs...

DAY 6 (22 May, Sun)

It's back to S'pore today... went to the airport at 8am and had brunch there... had a pizza meal (shared with Dan)... Jonas had one too and Aiway had a tom yum penne... we also had ice cream before going to check in for our flight... then it was home bound all the way...

Geez, i really miss Thailand... wanna go again soon... bought so many things on this trip, all thanks to my honey... he bought me so many things... he's so sweet... love travelling with him... but it's true - u can know more abt a person when u go travelling with him/her...
