rainning gold
At that moment, everyone stopped eating to look up at the dark sky... music plays, a soothing tune... and then, golden stars soar up onto the black canvas, lighting the night sky with their brilliance. With a loud *pheeeeeeeew* then *BOOOOOM* the golden star bursts into tiny sparkles, greatly contrasted from the dark background. Then the colourful display begins, with music, the mighty boom, the 'oooo's and the 'ahhhh's of the audience... As i stood there on the grass, looking up into the sky at the partially blocked magnificence (thanks to the plentiful trees over at Marina), my eyes fixated on the exploding wonders, I started to wonder how such beautiful things come about. I loved the colour and brilliance of the fireworks, and the idea of all these Singaporeans standing together to witness the amazing display - it does signify a sense of allegience to the country...
The display deserved a standing ovation, and nothing less... it deserved the undivided attention of its spectators, wowing them with such a wonderful performance. It was as if the fireworks were alive, dancing in the dark of the night, garnering the attention of all around. The spotlight was on them, for the entire 15min at least. My mind turned blank as I looked up and fully took in the amazing display. And with the finale, at the climax of the performance, the fireworks were dancing with all their might, one after another, frantically filling the dark sky with brightness... the excitement, the festivity of it all... everyone present could feel it. Then it all ended with golden rain, dissipating from the brilliant bloom before finally, alas, disappearing into the dark, fading, slowly bidding us all farewell as the curtain falls. |
